Here is what you can do:
1. Networking and Collaborating: Anybody interested in socializing and making connection would be very interested in this area. The position requires the indiviudal to network and communicate with other University clubs, departments and community members creating network opportunities for the OM club and groups. It will require establishing dual oportunities with other clubs and other community members, i.e. planning events with other clubs or getting other clubs to come out to our events. The basic idea is to connect SFUOpenMedia with other groups and community organization on and off campus.
Duties:
- Establish and maintain connections with other SFU groups or communties.
- Promote collabrative effort between other groups on and off campus .
- Being proactive within the SFU community/clubs by attedning other club meeting or being informed off what other clubs and groups are doing on campus and how SFUOpenMedia can help or assist or participate.
2. Newsletter: Those interested would require to write and sometimes research articles, which relate to media issues in Canada and around the world, on club events, and other related articles. The newsletter comes out every month and the deadline for each issue is a week before publication.
3. Social Media: Any individual interested in social media i.e. twittering, facebook or wordpress will be interested in volunteering for this position.
Duties:
- Updating facebook page with what current activities SFUOpenMedia is doing.
- Updating Twitter and Retweeting
- Help maintain and update the club website (wordpress)
4. Univeristy Presentations: This requires putitng on 5-10 minute University presentations on media issues in Canada, what OpenMedia.ca does and how students can get involved with our SFU club! Training and resources provided!
5. High School Workshops: Leading 60-75 minute High School workshops on the topic on Internet, democracy and net neutrality. Training and resources provided!
6. Tabling: Setting up a table on the SFU Burnaby Campus, and talk to students about OpenMedia.ca, the club, and how they can be involved.
7. Audio/video promotions: This includes working with CJSF to promote our club and inform students about media issues in Canada. We are also looking for people to create short educational videos on media issues in Canada and what we do as a club!
8. Networking event/workshop planning: Planning and implementing networking events and educational workshps which will take place.
